ABOUT SPANISH LESSONS ON WHEELS!
Spanish Lessons on Wheels in México!
Come, join us! Study Spanish while touring a most magnificent country! Lessons will be given while visiting several important and diverse places in Central Mexico.
Our classroom on wheels is available for groups of 10 maximum. This 7 days tour is appropriate for students of all levels.
Places to visit: Morelia, Pátzcuaro, Tzintzuntzan, Ihuatzio, Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary (in season) or Tlalpujahua, Los Azufres, Uruapan, Lake Zirahuén, Santa Clara del Cobre, Capula, Quiroga, Santa Fe de la Laguna, Cuitzeo, Zinapécuaro, Querendaro.
Strategy:
Our aim is to speak mainly Spanish during our session of School on Wheels. Therefore all activities of the day will be conducted in Spanish but will be translated immediately to English if it is required by any of the students. We will use the same method used by most recorded Spanish lessons in which you will hear the English word, phrase, or, sentence and then the Spanish pronunciation. Ours will be similar, in that, for example, if we say, Aqui celebran la Noche de Muertos, we will translate for you immediately to, Here they celebrate the Day of the Dead. The only exciting difference between recorded lessons and these lessons is that we will be in the town where they actually celebrate the event, Lake Patzcuaro.
During the tour you will be encouraged to ask “How do you say?” - Cómo se dice?”- And the guide-instructor will give you an answer not only for you but for everybody.
The manner of speaking Spanish during this tour will be clear, slow, and, often repeated. It will not be like a recording that is often too fast, unclear, and difficult to repeat.
Objectives:
Our main objective is to familiarize you with the language in conditions that will encourage you to listen and speak Spanish in a relaxed, friendly manner. We are not promising you that you will speak Spanish fluently in this small number of days. We are saying that you will be communicating each day to the limit of your possibilities. It is not our purpose to involve you in uncomfortable situations. We want to put you in real conditions of oral communication under our control and yours and with the help of translation to English if and when needed.
The other main goal of these lessons is that these conditions, by themselves, will be in places that will also enrich your spirit per se. We will travel through areas of central Mexico, in the State of Michoacan defined not only as touristic attractions, but also as typically Mexico. Therefore learning the language should be existential. Everybody knows that practice makes perfect, but oftentimes, with the little Spanish that is known, one is frightened or does not have the opportunity to practice it. In Spanish Lessons on Wheels we invite you to practice it….in the heart of Mexico.
Another purpose of these lessons is that once you have this experience behind you, you will grow in confidence. You will be more capable of measuring your own possibilities. You will be able to walk by yourself not only in Mexico, but in any Latin-American country. Self-examination concerning your language goals will become more complete, more specific, and, as a methodological consequence, easier to attack. We believe that this tour will change your perspectives. Even if your spoken Spanish is difficult to maintain, the experience of having lived it in its own environment will improve your comprehension of it and the size of your challenge.
Who provides this service?
We are professional tour guides recommended by different travel guide books with 14 years of experience providing tours in the English language. Through this involvement we have detected some communicational needs of foreign people travelling within Mexico, or of those persons living in the country full time. We will combine the interest and allure of touring new areas together with time spent teaching you the beautiful, romantic Spanish language.
Language pre-requisites:
English speaking students do not need previous Spanish studies. Obviously if you have previous Spanish experience the journey will be that much more delightful and meaningful. The number of students allows for us to dedicate sufficient time to each individual.
Come with us and experience the magic of Mexico while learning a new language!
